Where can I find a Dr well educated in treating my Lichen Sclerosus. I have all the symptoms and pain that both Dr’s have discussed. I have been suffering for over 8 years. I’m 67 years old and have not been able to have sex or intercourse since first being diagnosed. Ive just recently been prescribed Chlobetasol. Prior only cortisone type creams. I need help
I apologize for the tardiness of my reply, but I was just getting to this Podcast. I am an experienced Gynecologist specializing for years in vulvodynia and vulvar dystrophy, including both early and late-stage lichen sclerosis.
As you are aware, until recently the only therapy for women with lichen was clobetasol, clobetasol, or maybe more clobetasol! With the advent of both PRP research, and fractional CO2 laser modalities, this has radically changed. Both fractional CO2 laser and platelet-rich plasma are now (…cutting edge!) evidence-based therapeutic options of L.S.
My personal protocol involves a first therapy session with PRP injections to all L.S. areas, followed by a complete fractional CO2 laser session. The fractional CO2 laser work is then repeated in 2 additional sessions one and two months later, followed by a second PRP injection concomitant with the third laser session. I have treated several women mostly successfully with this protocol. All of my patients have been able to successfully resume enjoyable penetrative sexual activities. While you may find a savvy practitioner in your geographic ares KAthy, you may need to “travel.” As you may note, the full regimen requires 3 separate visits…
