With 33 years of medical experience, Reno, NV physician, William Clearfield, D.O. of the Clearfield Medical Group provides patients with successful treatment plans that benefit their health conditions and boost their overall quality of life.
Emphasizing diet, exercise and a healthy lifestyle, Dr. Clearfield was the "go to" guy when other physicians, even specialists at NYU and University of Pennsylvania were baffled, in his adopted hometown of Wilkes Barre, Pa.
A Family Physician by trade, with a detour through Obstetrics and Gynecology, (one year of residency that didn’t take), Dr. Clearfield early on recognized gaps in Western medicine, seeing patient after patient failing to get well in the traditional "every complaint has a pill" mentality fostered by "traditional" medical model.
In 1984 he tested and successfully implemented one of the first individualized computer generated diet programs (on an Apple IIc no less) and instituted the Medifast Protein Sparing Modified Weight Loss program at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital in Kingston, Pa.
In 1990, a curious combination of family events, a cousin who, after ten years of fertility issues, became pregnant after three sessions, and a chance encounter with a ninety-year old practitioner from the Peoples Republic of China, on a trip back home to Philadelphia, led him to UCLA’s Medical Acupuncture Physicians training.
He took to acupuncture quickly becoming the second practitioner in the Wilkes, Barre-Scranton, area, teacher, lecturer and the Treasurer of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. His 1992 treatise "Celestial Stems-5 Element Diet and Exercise Program," was based on Traditional Chinese Medicine dietary laws. His 1995 article “Form Follows Function; The Treatment of Musculoskeletal Head and Neck Disease,” is the model used taught today for all shoulder and neck injuries.
In 1997 he chaired the 9th Annual Symposium of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture in Washington, D.C.
Dr. C was the fourth licensed osteopathic acupuncture physician in the state of Pennsylvania
In 1998 Dr. Clearfield went hormonal, beginning anew with Bioidentical Hormone Replacement as a mainstay. Hormonal decline is caused by and contributes to aging. The loss of hormones is both natural and deleterious to one's health. Appropriately restoring hormones results in youthful benefits, improvement in the disorders of aging and less, not more risk of disease.
Dr. C’s first foray into the world of hormones was pellet insertion. Pellets look like kibbles and bits, and when implanted in the hip, provided a (relatively) long term (3-5 months being able to stretch to 6 months after several pellet cycles.
And still, STILL, Dr. C knew, he knew, a piece of the puzzle was missing. Patients, undergoing a renewal from the inside, via BHRT, clamored for a renewal from the outside. A suddenly energized body deserves a refreshed, healthy face.
It was Manifest Destiny, or something, that found Dr. C. wandering around the meeting rooms at the Valley Forge Sheraton in Valley Forge, Pa. in the Spring of 2002. A Botox and Juvederm information session was underway, and voila! the Facial Rejuvenation Clinic was born.
Integrating traditional injection techniques with his knowledge and needling skills honed in the acupuncture clinic, Dr. C was able to dramatically reduce the pain, swelling, bruising and eye droop occasionally seen with ordinary Botox injections. The results? Superb, with minimal to no bleeding and very little, is
any needle marks.
Relocating to Reno, Nevada in January 2013, Dr. Clearfield brings that same expertise, and quickly established the same reputation among his new adopted home.
Dr. C’s schedule quickly filled when word got out in Northern Nevada about his expertise in all things hormonal, along with his expertise in facial rejuvenation and weight management techniques.

He is a popular speaker both locally and on the national scene. Lecturing to the Osteopathic Rheumatogists of the Western States this past winter, Dr. C chanced upon the "Vampire Treatment Series," a collection of facial rejuvenation, and hormone enhancing techniques, he refers to as, "The Game Changers.”
